The Henchman

I was just working on a character in Z brush 4. Those who are using it will tell you how amazing the software is.

This was done in approximately 2 weeks (after office hours :D). There are still some topology problems which I need to work on. Still, It's came out almost the way i intended it to be.

I couldn't find good body textures for an African dude (which he was initially planned to be), but this seems satisfactory enough.

The Idea was to bring to center stage, a Henchman character, who is generally kept in the sidelines. I wanted him to feel dumb but determined, and I also wanted to portray him as 'just finished beating the crap out of some sorry ass dude', ergo the blood. the body has been stylized with exaggerated muscular structure and proportionally shorter limbs.

Centaur Concept

Hi guys,..Recently I am working on a new character concept as shown below. Its a centaur characteer concept. and my idea is to create a Small fighting scene between this charatcter and an another charater(will be post some other time).
So ,Here are the progress so far....

Zbrush Detailing: Since I will have most of the action shots as long shots or medium distance shots I did not gone crazy on detailling in Zbrush.

Hair modellling was done using Maya Hair plugin followed by hair Dynamics.

So far I have finished Rigging and Skinning part of the character.

Presently I am doing a bow arching scene with the character..for that personally i have acted the scene using video camera. It will take me some amount of time to finish the character.Hope it will come out well.
Here is a screen shot of the animation sequence..

Wolverine_The Classic one

Hi Freinds and juniors,

How r u..I am fine here in Korea.Its a long time we (founders of the blog) had not post our works.For me its because,now a days I am busy much with Company works, so less time for personal works.Anyway I have managed to finish one of my old unfinished work, the Wolverine.Here is the render output.

Here is the detail Process for refference:
1.Base model of wolverine and background environment in Maya
2.Detailing in Zbrush
3.Texturing in Maya.
4.Renderout different passes like diffuse, ambient, sss, Reflection, Specular, Color etc.
5.Composite all the passes in Fusion
6.Create Fire effect using FumeFx and particle flow.
Thats it.

Hey, Its been a long time since there have been post on this wall. I guess all the authors are slightly busy with their daily lives and s**t. Well not me, I am as free as John dillinger was in prison. So here's what I got, I was trying to make a character in a body suit a la Ironman. technically I an still going to work on it because I want to give it some more realism. For now this is it and I decided I'll show you guys only this much.

I have attached the picture in a fairly high resolution so if you wish you can download it and use it as wallpaper :)

Z Brush Rocks

Z Brush is probably the best modelling software around. It is one of those rare software that does not bank on the User's knowledge of the software but only his talent for sculpting. Its got such well designed and ergonomic interfaces that I have totally fallen in love with it. I did this in 2 or 3 days in all. Its still a WIP, but I still wanted to share it... From start to finish all in Z-Brush

I have been wanting to post this since a long time...

unfortunately I kept trying to improve it, and ran out of ideas. So its been pending for a long time even though in retrospect I feel that it was finished. I guess I am moving on and calling it quits for this piece. I believe I will do a better job if i keep moving on.

About the piece: This is a character pin up poster designed as a self learning exercise. The Idea was to convey a story about the character through a single pose. If you look closely you will find enough elements that will define 'Maddog' as a character and probably tell you a little about his side of the story. Please put in your comments and tell me what you think.

Old is Gold

Hey guy’s this is my first post, so I thought of sharing a project that I did long time back, and learned a lot, during the development.

I thought of designing a car with a metaphor of an elephant. Shown below are the exploration, I tried to extract few characteristic features from the metaphor, which could be directly put into the design. Trust me, it wasn’t easy.

Once all the features were finalized I tried to tie them together into a single unit, and at the same time I was also taking care over all appearance of the vehicle, these were real quick sketches ( apporx 3 min per sketch )

When I was happy with the form and placement of the features, I thought of drawing few final sketches.

After these things I went on to photoshop to see if I can show the overall flow of the surfaces in the renderings, ‘cos I feel it is of utmost importance, to show 100% of what you have conceived in your mind.

I have always had this fascination for slimy, big teeth, creepy eyed creatures, hav been drawing them and scaring people ever since I remember anything. Was moving some of my old files and came across a couple of shit faces, here they r for ur consideration,.....buwahhahahahaha.

Lets start with my alltime fav 2 comic monsters, the Hulk n the Pitt [Francis meets Keown, hee hee]. I am a big fan of ghostly skulls, so here r some of my sketches,See more of my skulls here,..
Well mutants can be monsters too, so here r some of mine from a strip called "The Game"

The top 2 are from a strip for a Spiderman India, chk out the mean teeth on that thing!

Street Fighter 4

I've Been playing the latest Street fighter 4 on my computer. The Charecters are full of awesome awesomeness. But the best of the lot is this Extreme Muya thai fighter called Sagat... He kicks ass... Plus The Art work for Street Fighter 4 uses an extremely cool style (you have to google and see it), So I had to try...

Softs used:

line drawing and coloring in Photoshop, I used a hard brush and low opacity in the colors for the blend.

the Extra dark brush strokes in ArtRage 2.5, To get the style

Then the Various drip marks and scratches were put (again Photoshop)

Came out pretty well I think, you be the judge...

okey guys .. eat this.. now dont say it sucks.. u just cant say when it clicks.. as i said earlier " its was anon th spot do or die platform when it clicked.. just a state of mind bot it out; th concepts.."
ofcorse i really had nothin in my mind regarding th concept when i started working on this project.. i saw it just as a learning excersise for a realistic production..

this was the quick initial sketch which i scribbled actually.. it sucks right.. yes.. i know.. how can this be.. how can this evr b translatd to that final piece.. yep it just happnd..
whatevr.. the first his was to overlay on some standard stylish chopper (( i mean chopper..)) and get reference.. the scale and proportion.. now common this was my first makng' OF THE' bike.. i owed guidance.. learn before u rip them apart..
ok scale it down..
now think of some background(bgk) for workin.. experiment witha lottof bgk to get a feel of what u have done and what u can do..
the next stage is like devlpmnt of few 'necessry' parts.. some frames,, tyrs,, engine etcc.. those withou which th bikes not gonna fly.. place it accordingly to get the feel of what can b made to happen..
okey now.. this.. this was the point which left think of some good concepts actually.. coz my intention of learnin factor was fadin.. i started feelin lik realism is simple.. its a matter of techniques and time (( really huge time investment initially till u learn to do it fast))..
this floated me with some concepts and quickly iwent on.. without doing much paperworks..
now experiment with some colour inverts,, page flips,, bgk changes.. lights different etc..
ahh.. now its bad for a dark bgk.. here i've to decide of colour schemes to relate concept,, bgks,, the contrasts,, objects,, fuck what all was goin tru my mind was to fast i became un aware of all facts..
now details were worked on.. the ribs.. the cords.. tring to make frames and parts add to my concept..
okey.. the frames wer worked.. wher to end exhaust..
should th exhaust be of same nature.. colour scheme of exhaust.. whethr 2 bring contrast or monotony..
and then assemble everythin.. note ia had been changin bgks,, colours,,flippin my page at all stages.. some things once deided lik th red and black textures rather than a CMYK of chamilion or browns of scavngrs etcc wer never changd..
finally its a decision to make the first image to present..
i chosse a simple gradient bgk and my solid work to contrasst and present..

Battle of Saraighat

I am planning to make an animation movie on the great Battle of Saraighat.Actually Pankaj and I had come with the idea of making this movie.Presently I am doing the storyboarding part of it.Charcters are yet to be finalised.
Here is a Fighting sequence thats I have conceptualized.

StoryBoard scene plays: Mughal Army carried by Ram Singh had arrived at guwahati.There is a huge destruction everywhere.Lachit along with his millitant have to secure the south bank of brahmaputra.

scene1:Huge Destructions everywhere made by mughal army.
Scene2:On mugal horse rider chllenges somebody towards the camera.
scenes3 :It was Lachit coming from a smoky environment.brave and bold with a long sword at his right hand.
Scene4: 'Lets finish this now' enemy soldier galloping towards Lachit.

Scene5:Angry and disgusting looks on Lachit's face.
scene6:His left hand moves.what he is going to do?????
scene7: enemy soldier still galloping towards lachit(side view)

scene8: wow!! he is pulling his other sword from his back

scene9: same view scene8 from front
scene10:'yeah,come on!!' enemy soldier screaming and moving with extream spead.
scene11:Hero takes position for engage and started a run towards the enemy.

Cartoony stuff!

Vishal gave me this freelance contact of a US firm which needed multiple concepts for their energy meter test fixture. The idea was to get paid per concept [more sketches = more money]. I made a lot of sketches and found out a simple way to render them. Remember Paul’s cut-color technique; yep works with Photoshop too :PKind of looks cartoony, but serves the purpose. Took me less than 20 min for each sketch. Fast money, here's a sample,

Was doodling at tea-board bout this bad ass bike, say a flimsy frame with a hot rod engine. The bike should look as if it might fall apart any moment :P
It should give any viewer a sense of imbalance [Only a complete nut-case would ride that!].

Now Devesh was asking some tips on rendering, here u go. Here's a easy way to make ur CAD stuff look real. Give fillets and rounds to all possible corners/ edges, the renderings will look realistic. [straight edges will make it look unreal and toy like, scaled down effect].
here's a sample, the first one's without fillets and rounds, hence the highlights are all very CG lookin,
the second one is more believable due to the small radius in the edges and rounds that will actually be seen in manufactured components [real world objects].
now if u want to make it look persuasive, add some decals to it in fine/small prints, like the one on top [I've just put some random stuff, fun]
now since I've spent so much time putting this together, i demand some good rendering during ur intern presentations .
